From the winery: "A staple in the Mending Wall portfolio, the 2021 Tournahu Vineyard offers an elegant and refined reflection of Cabernet Sauvignon from the heart of St Helena. The low yielding vintage allowed for condensed fruit, bringing out the essence of red currant, dark chocolate, cedar box all tied together at the end with an oaky caramel finish. Marked by its full-bodied richness and concentrated profile, this wine will benefit from age and would do well with an hour of decanting before serving with a decadent meal."

About the Producer

Mending Wall is the product of three families: Frank Dotzler, Mark Pulido and Donna Walker, and Thomas Rivers Brown.

95 Jeb Dunnuck -
A pretty, forward, surprisingly accessible wine in the vintage, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Tournahu Vineyard has a lovely perfume of red, blue, and black fruits as well as some chocolaty background oak and tobacco. It's balanced, has medium to full-bodied richness, brings plenty of concentration, and stays light and graceful. Drink this beauty over the coming 15 years.
93 Decanter -
The Tournahu Vineyard was planted in the early 2000s to Cabernet Clone 7. This red wine leads with perfumed red florals, red berry fruit, black cherry, and bouquet garni. In the mouth, it's a plush Cabernet that's medium to full-bodied, with saline-scented black and red berry fruit, nuanced by a finish of toffee, caramel spices, and toasty oak.
93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
All clone 7 from 30-year-old vines, the 2021 Cabernet Sauvignon Tournahu Vineyard offers up complex aromas of black cherries, licorice, crushed stone and mocha. It's full-bodied, creamy and plush, with hints of cola-like spice on the slightly warm finish. It's the most forward and approachable of the Mending Wall wines, without the tannic structure and cellaring potential of either the Godward Vineyard or Oakville Ranch bottlings, but that doesn't mean it won't make for delicious drinking over the next decade.
