If you love inky-ripe Napa Cab with just enough poise, structure, and freshness to hold onto its hat over the waterfall of hedonism… 2015 is your dream vintage. We have library bottles from the legendary Conn Creek!

The time felt ripe to check in on the 2015 vintage now that it's passed the decade mark, so we poked around at Conn Creek and secured a small stash. And as usual, an excellent price. You’ll SAVE $75 per bottle, and this 2015 is ready to ring your doorbell and fill your arms with flowers.

You know how much we respect Conn Creek – they’re longtime AVA experts with connections to some of the best fruit in the region, and sharp-as-a-tack cellar practices. You’re almost guaranteed to get a faithful snapshot of the place and time. 2015 was the fourth consecutive drought year in California, and the vines went somewhere deeply seductive before an early harvest, turning out dense, super-concentrated black fruit notes that were sticky-ripe yet soaringly fresh. This particular bottling comes from the red volcanic soils of the Probst Vineyard at 1,200 feet in the Atlas Peak appellation. Winemaker Elizabeth DeLouise-Gant focused on extracting ripe tannins and protecting that crucial feeling of freshness. The wine spent 16 months in 50% new French oak.

This is gushing with blackberry, pulpy blueberry, and brandied cherry, all cohesively toned with lilac and gardenia. The mouthfeel is supple and deep. Cedar and pencil lead create a nice linear structure within the enchanting perfume. Black and red licorice, croissant, and clotted cream add to the sense of non-stop treat. This is like a liquid love letter! The fresh smack of rich tannin on the finish is an “XOXO” scrawled large. And P.S. … you’re saving 52%.

Not to inconvenience you, but venison would be a perfect pairing. Otherwise, a corned beef Reuben would be fantastic, or borscht made with beef broth.

We have fewer than 100 bottles. Snap this up!

About the Producer

Conn Creek’s enduring commitment to Bordeaux-style red wines began in 1973, when it was founded by Bill and Kathy Collins. Conn Creek was among a small group of wineries leading a renaissance of the Napa Valley, and played an important part in establishing Napa’s reputation as a serious winegrowing region. Conn Creek was an early adopter of AVA-focused bottlings, which remain its specialty today. Fun fact: Back in 1979, the Collins family built an energy-efficient building in the Rutherford appellation. This facility is believed to be the first “green” winery building in Napa and included 12”-thick walls made of Styrofoam, steel mesh, gunite, and a total of 20,000 corks. Today, nearly 40 years after its founding, Conn Creek is still excelling at what Napa does best: Cabernet Sauvignon.
