Cortello Cabernet Sauvignon Stags Leap District Napa Valley 2022
Cabernet Sauvignon | US
There’s nothing like going straight to the source. With Cortello, Napa vineyard guru Jason Lauritson takes a few tons of grapes from his top clients… and makes his own utterly exceptional Napa Cab. And we have it for under $40, with shipping included on THREE!
Jason Lauritson’s been the grape whisperer at the famed Regusci Vineyard in the Stags Leap District since 2005. This delectable, super-drinkable Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Stags Leap fruit, all clone 337, and it scored an impressive 93 POINTS from Decanter! For a completely off-the-radar Napa Cab... that’s pretty cool. Also cool: snapping it up for $39.95 instead of $80!
Jason’s playground is over a thousand acres of top-quality Napa vineyards. And his love of top-notch fruit is just surging out of the glass here. Expressive, expressive, expressive! We had to repeat ourselves because sometimes wine words lose their meaning – and this bottle is SO expressive. And classical. The wine spent 20 months in French oak barrels – just 35% new – so it’s approachable but also has backbone. Beguiling aromas of smoked hay and sour cherries entwine with crushed violet and meatiness… without losing any of its prettiness. This is dark, creamy, and absolutely overflowing with lush black cherry, Damson plum, and roasted coffee bean. The finish is a deep ballet curtsy of incense and cocoa powder. Perfect. At our unbeatable price, go wild for winter. We’ll cover shipping when you order 3+.
About the Producer
Cortello is a boutique Napa Valley wine label established in 2012 by Jason Lauritsen, a seasoned viticulturist and head of farming at Regusci Vineyards. The name "Cortello," meaning "knife" in Italian, pays homage to the traditional curved blades used by vineyard workers during harvest. Leveraging his management of over 1,000 acres in Napa—particularly in the esteemed Stags Leap District—Lauritsen crafts small-batch Cabernet Sauvignons that reflect the region's distinctive terroir. Cortello wines are known for their rich, layered profiles, featuring notes of dark plum, mocha, and spice, and are typically aged in French oak to enhance their complexity. With limited production runs of just a few hundred cases per vintage, Cortello has garnered a dedicated following among collectors seeking high-quality Napa Cabernets at accessible prices.
