It takes things to a whole new level. 96 POINTS for their top-of-the-line Chianti – AND over 40% OFF?! Let’s sweeten this deal up a little further – how’s FREE SHIPPING on just 3 bottles sound?

Frank Grace is the rare American making world-class juice in Tuscany. He bought the property after falling in love with the region in the 90s, and the old vines and the fine soils near Panzano inspired him (and now his sons) to make the absolute best wines possible in the classic tradition (this wine is also certified organic!). This is their “Il Margone” Gran Selezione – a step higher than their Riserva, and the absolute pinnacle of their portfolio – the highest plots, the best lots, all lovingly aged for longer in new and once-used barrels for 30 months. Add in the tremendous, maybe BEST EVER 2016 Tuscan vintage, and you have something special indeed.

This is round, but elegant, with a polish, structure, and weight that is well-suited to drinking young OR old – seriously anytime between now and 15 years from now is on the table, and will provide endless delight! Perfumed violets and roses, fresh sweet cherry, red currants, mint, cocoa and coffee beans, bay laurel, new leather, sandalwood, and plums fresh from the orchard. Soft yet powerful, with traces of minerality, and delicate tea-like spices that carry this into an impressively long finish. Super savory too, with a spice profile that carries the wine onward for nearly a minute. 96 POINTS and ONLY $31.95 on one of our favorite wines from one of the best Tuscan vintages ever...this is one you surely should not miss!

96 Falstaff -
Shimmering rich ruby colour. Very intense, appealing nose of ripe cherry and blackberry some clove in the background, rather sensual. Lining the palate with an array of crisp fruit, grippy, tightly-knit, multi-layered tannin. Real drive.
93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
Made with organic fruit, the Il Molino di Grace 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Il Margone is fresh and lively, showing the precision and focus that is associated with this classic vintage across Tuscany. Cassis, berry fruit and wild plum segue to light spice, tilled earth and crushed flowers. This is a mid-weight wine that shows more in terms of length and polish than it does richness or bulk. These are very nice results.
93 Raffaele Vecchione -
Classic and of a bohemian nature offering notes of wet red flowers, elderflower and green tea leaves. The secondary profile is slightly dusty but augments the complexity. Full bodied, well made sweet tannins and an essential finale of optimum drinkability. Drink now.
93 James Suckling -
A juicy, fruity red with cherry and walnut character. Some burnt orange peel, too. Medium-bodied with a savory and fruity finish. Solid and full of character. From organically grown grapes. This needs another year or two to open, but it’s impressive.
93 Vinous -
The 2016 Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Il Margone is a potent, deep wine. Succulent red cherry, cedar, tobacco, mint and dried flowers all open effortlessly in the glass. The 2016 is profound and fleshy but not at all heavy. All the elements come together so well. Lifted floral and spice accents bring out the Sangiovese character nicely, especially on the long, persistent finish.
93 Wine Spectator -
Distinctive aromas and flavors of olive and sandalwood augment the black currant, cherry and mineral notes in this expressive red. Solidly built, with beefy tannins holding court on the finish. Best from 2022 through 2040. 1,700 cases made, 1,250 cases imported.
93 Decanter -
Il Molino di Grace's 20 hectares fan out around the estate in single undulating unit on predominantly galestro soil. In superior years, a selection of the best lots is used to produce Il Margone. Aged in a combination of new and second use French barriques and tonneaux, this offers expressive and well-delineated aromas allying sweet wood spice with tarragon and fennel soaked cherry and an undertow of violet. It has all the necessary fruit concentration for ageing along with smooth ample tannins.
92 Wine Enthusiast -
Blue flower, baking spice and ripe plum aromas lead the way on this medium-bodied red along with whiffs of French oak. Made with organically farmed Sangiovese, the taut, structured palate features ripe Marasca cherry, coconut, star anise and espresso alongside close-grained, rather drying tannins. Drink 2022–2027.
