The philosophy of Villa Poggio Salvi is simple…traditional wines are produced with modern methods. On the South side of Montalcino, overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea, Poggio Salvi has slowly amassed 21 hectares of prime Montalcino vineyards over the past five decades. Planted entirely to sangiovese grosso (a local sangiovese clone prized in Brunello), this producer has built quite the reputation over the past few vintages – ever-increasing in quality and critical recognition across their portfolio. This 2017 Brunello is truly remarkable – intoxicating aromas of lavender, cherry blossom, and orange peel beckon you deep into the glass, before saturating your palate with ripe blackberries, cinnamon, sage, and toasted anise seed.
