Roger Roessler spent more than four decades in the restaurant business, opening and running dozens across the Western United States (including the famous Swiss Hotel on the Sonoma Plaza). His time in kitchens and dining rooms led him to become more and more interested in learning about fine wines and, specifically, how to make them. In the ‘90s, he made the not-so-distant leap from restaurant-rearing to winemaking with the creation of his pinot-centric winery, Roessler Wine Cellars…a hub for truly exceptional value wines. And today’s offer is one of his finest for an incredible 53% off retail!

If you’re up on your pinot knowledge, you may be familiar with his Black Pine Pinot Noir, a long-time crowd favorite and easy sipper that is hand-picked and blended from sites across Sonoma’s Petaluma Gap, Russian River, and Sonoma Coast AVAs. In comparison, this wine takes the stuff we love from Black Pine and takes it up one more notch (if you can even imagine) – exemplifying the incredible quality and value while showing off the best characteristics found in the amazing Anderson Valley terroir.

Sitting atop the northwest corner of the Anderson Valley, the site sits only about 6 miles from the Pacific Ocean as the crow flies. The cool, windy climate coupled with an array of distinctive clones (we’re talking 115, 777, and Pommard) makes for an amalgamation of flavors that will put a smile on any pinot lover’s face. It’s that perfect mixture of ripe raspberry and blackberry followed quickly by pie crust, peppery rootbeer, and black licorice notes – and so much more. This 2017 vintage – crafted by seasoned winemaker Drew Huffine of KOSTA BROWNE, DUMOL, AUTEUR, and COPAIN – has sat for enough time to smooth out the edges, making it a balanced and silky drinker that is more than appropriate to load up on and pop open today or anytime in the next two years. You won’t find many single-vineyard Anderson Valley pinots like this one priced under $25 – so don’t miss out while we still have some in stock!
