Beautifully dense and loaded with black cherry, dark raspberry coulis, bergamot tea, clove, and allspice...even a hint of nutmeg...terrifically warm, round, and immensely easy to love. Green Valley of Russian River Valley just might be my favorite nested Sub-AVA anywhere! Basically, an appellation (Green Valley) fully contained within another (Russian River Valley) that was determined to have a markedly different climate that makes for a different expression than the rest of Russian River. A couple of ponds/lagoons at lower elevations in the Green Valley work like magnets – pulling in and holding on to the fog off the Pacific – making for a few degrees cooler, and a more elegant expression of the pinot noir that grows here. 

And that, well, that is exactly what we have here in this single vineyard Jigar pinot noir. What a price! And what a wine! Russian River pinot at its finest, grown in the heart of the Green Valley of Russian River Valley between the towns of Forestville, Sebastopol, and Graton. Planted in 2001 to Dijon clones 667, 777, and 828, as well as Swan and Calera clones from California – this is a pinot noir playground of epic proportions. Just 10 miles from the Pacific, this is some cool climate, fog-driven, pinot noir Valhalla – all situated on the region’s famous Goldridge sandy loam soils. At our price of UNDER $30?!?!
