Guarachi Proprietary Red Atlas Peak Napa Valley 2022

Proprietary Blends  |  US

TP97, JS93
SPECIAL: Ground shipping included on orders of 3 bottles or more!

Have you tasted this force of nature yet? This bottle’s for everyone who likes to sink their teeth into a big, bold, super-stylish red now and then. Guarachi’s “G” is wine with a capital “W” – structure, power, chewiness, opulent fruit, sexy florals, herbs, spices, minerals, wood…YES. 97 points and affordable don’t usually find themselves in the same sentence in Napa Valley, but they do on our mailing list!

The blend is 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Malbec, and 2% Petit Verdot grown on Alex Guarachi’s own Meadowrock Vineyard on Atlas Peak. Inky, sappy black currants and Bing cherries meld with cedar plank, gardenia, roasted fennel, and black pepper. Then cocoa powder coats your tongue and the fruit stains your teeth as you lean in for another unrelenting sip. Go full-throttle with this and have a loaded-up cheeseburger and put on some Bob Seger, but take the time to give your glass some extra swirls, because as Tasting Panel said, it’s “impressively generous as it opens up.”

The winemaker is Julian Gonzalez, a longtime key player on the demanding Paul Hobbs winemaking team, and now a creator in his own right. He and Alex share a core philosophy: “No shortcuts.” Clearly none taken here. You only need to buy two bottles for the full price drop. But warning, you might fly through this – buy enough to feel the “G” force at least once a month.

About the Producer

"Alex Guarachi is owner of Guarachi Family Wines and founder of Guarachi Wine Partners (formally TGIC Global Fine Wine Company).

Alex came to the United States on a soccer scholarship from his native country, Chile. However, when an injury shattered his athletic dreams, he went back to his roots to find new aspirations. While living in the backyard of Napa Valley and Sonoma County – where South American wines had previously been unknown – Alex saw an opportunity. He endeavored, against all odds, to carve out a share of the American wine market for the extraordinary wines from his home country. As a result, he began the uphill journey of entrepreneurship and started importing Chilean wines into Napa and Sonoma. Behind every successful business is a struggle and this was no exception. Alex started working out of his very own garage and performed every little (and large) task himself. He was the order taker, the warehouse manager, the salesman and even the truck driver in an attempt to gain recognition and put his foot in the door. Despite the challenges that he faced, Alex forged his company into a leading importer, marketer, and producer of fine wines.

Guarachi Wine Partners became one of the first importers of Chilean and Argentine wines and has grown exponentially to represent wines from around the world. It is now the second largest importer of South American wines and in 2010 was honored as Importer of the Year by Wine Enthusiast Magazine's prestigious Wine Star Awards.

In 2007, after 22 years of serving as the founder and president of GWP, Alex Guarachi poured his passion for building wine brands into his own high end & boutique label, Guarachi Family Wines, with well-crafted and limited bottles of Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley and Pinot Noir from the Sonoma Coast. It has since expanded with the acquisition of prestigious estate vineyards, such as Meadowrock in the Atlas Peak appellation of Napa Valley and Sun Chase overlooking Gap’s Crown in the Sonoma Coast Petaluma Wind Gap.

Alex serves as a testament to the American dream. The living embodiment of what one person can accomplish with an idea and the will to create something for himself and a legacy for his family."

97 Tasting Panel -
A 100% estate bottled Cabernet Sauvignon, with some Malbec and Petit Verdot. Austere at first sip, but impressively generous as it opens up. Chewy tannins feature a dusting of cherry pith and cocoa, while minerality plays a textural role within its firm structure. It finishes with oregano-soaked cedar and black plum with a long finish.
