Tori Magna Pinot Noir Felsong Cask # 16 Santa Barbara County 2020
Pinot Noir | US
Tori Magna’s home is in Napa Valley, touting its focus of only two wines made – but made well. However, they source from stellar vineyards all around California for their other wines, to highlight exceptional terroir. This Felsong is an homage to two of Santa Barbara County’s most stellar and revered vineyard sites: Radian and Mt. Carmel. And all for 61% off! Don’t ever say we don’t take care of you, loyal Invino-ers. We try to give you the goods whenever we get them!
2020 turned out to be a gem of a vintage for Santa Barbara grape growers, with most of the vintners in Santa Barbara county praising the vintage as an exceptional one overall, where incredible wines were made, though yields were slightly less than usual. That’s the sort of vintner report that makes us here in Napa Valley a little jealous, but at a price this good, we’ll make allowances!
This 2020 vintage of Felsong, Tori Magna’s Santa Barbara pinot noir, boasts a soft, lush mouthfeel with Bing cherry and raspberry flavors on the palate, along with vanilla and clove. There are also chocolate and mint flavors that add dimensional character to the wine. The fruit is 78% Mt. Carmel vineyard, which was one of the first planted vineyards in the Santa Rita Hills appellation and high above the Santa Ynez river – a vineyard often used by winemakers like Matt Dees (of Jonata and The Hilt fame) – and 22% Radian vineyard, one of the most revered vineyards in all of California – and a frequent source tapped by the luminous likes of Sea Smoke and Kosta Browne. Radian, at its highest point, reaches 700 ft above sea level, and winds riproar past it, keeping it nice and chilly for great acid retention.
This delectable wine is aged for 19 months in 10% new French oak and 90% second-time used oak. It’s an easy-drinking, pleasurable experience, made only more coveted due to the vineyard sources in the bottle! For 61% off and under $20 for a pinot noir, something that’s hard to fathom and hardly ever seen, this is a no-brainer. You should pick up as much of this as you possibly can while we have the inventory. We guarantee you’ll come back looking for more!
About the Producer
A Pinot lovers' dream, the 2020 Felsong exhibits a wave of fruit-forward Bing cherry and raspberry deliciousness, and an amazingly supple, lush mouth-feel, followed by a lingering, lip-smacking finish. This 100% Pinot is 78% Mt. Carmel Vineyard and 22% Radian.
The warm, even buttery aromas of brioche, strawberry jam and baking spice prove immensely inviting, leading to an approachable yet complex palate where fruit-punch flavors are lifted by clove, tart plum skins and vanilla on the finish.
