Set against the dramatic backdrop of South Australia’s Limestone Coast, Vandenberg is a project from a former Aussie-rules football star whose Dutch ancestor settled in Auz – somewhat unwillingly, back in the 1850s. No…he wasn’t a criminal, he was the captain of a ship, the King Willem II (this blend’s namesake) to be exact. He was ferrying 400 passengers over during Australia’s gold rush, when, after a safe voyage and successful unloading, a fierce storm broke the galley free from its anchor, forcing the ship to be dashed across the rocks beyond repair. The family’s been there ever since…call it fate, call it fortune, but we’ve rarely been so happy to reap the benefits from tragedy. This is a pure, straight-up, best ever Aussie shiraz deal – we loaded it up on the cargo ship ourselves, just to get the world’s best price for you!
Intensely perfumed aromas – leading with white sage, then lavender, followed by flavors of crushed bramble berries, toasted cocoa nibs, and wisps of Tahitian vanilla.
