Château Laroque sits atop Saint-Emilion’s famous limestone plateau, which happens to be the home to several of the most renowned estates in the region, including Troplong Mondot and Pavie Macquin. Remains of the estate’s 12th-century tower still keep watch over the land as a reminder of the defensive stronghold it once was centuries ago. Today, Château Laroque holds the title of largest wine estate in Saint-Emilion, covering 130 hectares and planted with 50-plus-year-old vines of merlot and cabernet franc. The Beaumartin family took ownership in 1935, shortly after the phylloxera epidemic wreaked havoc on the land, and they were steadfast in restoring the property to its former glory. Receiving Grand Cru status in 1996 proved that the hard work paid off at the estate, and the wines only continue to improve!

This succulently rich, deeply structured Bordeaux is the GOAT.
