Château Laroque is one of the preeminent estates in Bordeaux’s Saint-Emilion – dating back all the way to the 12th century! An incredible value for the second wine of a top-notch estate – this sultry merlot and cabernet franc blend is simply too good to pass up! 91 POINTS!

Château Laroque sits Saint-Emilion’s revered limestone plateau – home to some of the greatest estates in the region – like Troplong Mondot and Pavie Macquin. Its 12th-century tower stands as a reminder of the stronghold that watched over the town of Saint-Emilion for centuries. To this day, the estate is the largest in Saint-Emilion – standing at 130 hectares – and planted to over 50-year-old vines of cabernet franc and merlot. The Beaumartin family has been at the helm since the 1930s and the estate is on the rise! Ascension to Grand Cru status in 1996 proves the potential of this immense estate, and the wines are better than ever!

Tremendously rich and powerfully structured, with ample and juicy red fruits – all complemented by ripe plums and earthy licorice notes. Accents of decadent mocha powder and creamy, toasted hazelnuts round out the velvety smooth and expansive finish, with a nicely layered grip and impeccably fine tannins extending the finish impressively. For the price, this is a complex and ample wine that shall carry itself gorgeously over the next five years. Only $24.95! You’re gonna want to load up on this – the perfect Bordeaux addition to any collection – ready to drink and be shared!

91 James Suckling -
A firm, fruity red with plum, chocolate and walnut aromas and flavors. Medium body. Fine tannins. Drinkable now, but better in 2023.
90 Wine Enthusiast -
The second wine of this estate, this is smoothly textured and rich with dark-plum and licorice flavors. It still has plenty of tannins in the background, so the wine does need more time. Drink from 2023.
