About the Producer
Thomas LaTour vineyards has two estate vineyards, one on Mount Veeder and one on the base of Howell Mountain up on Greenfield Rd, right next to Aonair and just down the slope from Amizetta. Today’s wine is sourced from the vineyard on the base of Howell Mountain, and while it is just outside the Howell Mountain AVA line, it shares the same geography and soils. Thomas LaTour was the former CEO and Chairman of the Kimpton Hotel Group, and in 1983, he had the opportunity to come to Napa and run the Silverado Resort. While in Napa, where he naturally met a number of Napa Valley vintners, Tom caught the bug and started making wine in his home. He soon bought a piece of property on the slopes of Mt. Veeder, and later on Greenfield Road. Thomas makes the wine in extremely small quantities at Judd’s Hill.
