Martin Ray Cabernet Sauvignon Oakville 2019
Cabernet Blends | US
By now, you probably know the Martin Ray story, so let’s talk about the wine first! Drinking this blind, you might think it’s Bordeaux…rich dark fruit and that tobacco leaf, pencil-lead character but with that unmistakable Oakville cassis and blackberry that reminds you that you’re in the new world. Packed with dark plums, baking spices, and some succulent structure. Amazing at this price…doesn’t come around enough!
Guiding the ship at Martin Ray is none other than Keith Emerson, a 100-point winemaker that you’ll know from other big names, like Vineyard 29, Robert Craig, and his own Emerson Brown, which happens to be a prime Oakville vineyard. A man who knows his way around world-class Oakville fruit!

About the Producer
Martin Ray was a wine pioneer who developed what is now one of the most historical properties in California, known as Mount Eden. Fast forward twenty years, Courtney Benham stumbled upon 1500 cases of Martin Ray wine in a San Jose warehouse and purchased the brand. And since 1990, has slowly returned this artisanal winery to its former glory, creating wines worthy of the Martin Ray name.
