For a mere $19.95, you might not be ready for how spectacular this Chardonnay is. But it's actually reasonable to expect greatness: 94 POINTS, one of California’s oldest and coldest vineyards, biodynamically farmed, and made by Chris Miller?! We’re halfway through the cases we snagged, so don’t wait too long.

“It combines soft, delicate richness with vibrant salinity, remaining admirably delineated through the long, floating finish. It's a beautiful medley of elegant power and deft minerality presented with precision and transparency.” – 94 points, Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate

This Chardonnay was grown on the renowned Olson Vineyard, which has been farmed by the Olson family since 1882 on a hill near Prunedale, five miles from the Monterey Bay. Intriguingly, the vines are rooted in soil that’s over 90% sand, and the growing season is long and chilly thanks to frigid winds generated by the Monterey Submarine Canyon – one of the world's largest. This 2021 bottling has that exciting “somewhereness” you’re hoping for when you buy a small-batch, single-vineyard wine – especially when master sommelier-turned-winemaker Chris Miller is doing his idealistic thing. He likes native yeast fermentation, minimal oak, and no filtration. Every wine we’ve tasted from his Seabold label has been pure, edgy, alive, and satisfying. Under $20 is unreal for this level of intention and character.

The nose is electric with apricot and citrusy coastal tension, so let yourself linger there. On the palate, satiny white flowers and delicate nectarine slink across the tongue, then nostalgic notes of butterscotch, saltine cracker, and amber perfume move in for a rich finish. Spine-tingly good! 94 points indeed, and roughly 56% off the winery’s very reasonable $45 price.

Just two bottles will trigger our best deal, but when you can have six for just $119.70 with shipping included, why wouldn’t you?!

About the Producer

Master Sommelier Chris Miller founded Seabold Cellars in 2014. Based in Marina, California, Seabold produces minimal-intervention wines from vineyards across Monterey, San Benito, and Santa Cruz. Chris started his food career in his mother's restaurant in New Orleans. After a transformative wine tasting in Washington State, he uprooted to Seattle, immersing himself completely in wine as a sommelier at Canlis Restaurant and participating in harvests in Walla Walla. Before long, he’d earned the title of 'Best New Sommelier in America' from Wine & Spirits Magazine. He nabbed a Wine Spectator award for helping Wolfgang Puck reshape the wine program at Spago Beverly Hills. He won the young sommeliers category at the international Chaîne des Rôtisseurs. And he’s been featured in Forbes, Robb Report, The New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, Wine Enthusiast, and Eater. During his 25-year career in restaurants, Chris devoted as many days as he could to working in vineyards and cellars in the Santa Rita Hills. Eventually, he was ready to swap his suit and tie for jeans and boots, and established Seabold. He still maintains his somm credentials.
