Olet'te Sparkling Blanc de Blancs California Brut NV
Chardonnay | US
It’s been months since we’ve brought you a sparkling wine, and to make up for it, we have an exuberant bottle from Olet’te! Handcrafted in the méthode champenoise, and no minimum purchase required for our best price of $39.95.
You love it, you need it, how could we have neglected it? Sparkling is back! We’re starting with just 96 bottles, so don’t wait on this one. It’s a Blanc de Blancs from Olet’te in Napa Valley. The winery sourced its Chardonnay from Anderson Valley, Carneros, and the Sonoma Coast – and that high-energy coastal sensibility is a huge asset. The classic green apple note is polished to the point of shining. Lemon bar and nectarine add a little cream and ripeness for underlying yum. Crisp acid and vivacious bubbles are the main characters here, imprinting a deep zing on the tongue that keeps the party going long after each swallow.
Direct from this small-batch winery, you’d pay at least $50. And understandably – after secondary fermentation in the bottle, the multi-vintage wine aged on lees for two years before each bottle was hand riddled (mass-market sparklings often automate the process). Bottles were sequentially numbered on the upper left-hand corner of the label.
Wine Enthusiast has chosen an Olet’te sparkling for their Best of the Year guide at least five times. If we had a "Daily Personal Treat" guide or a "Things To Buy In Case There’s A Get-Together" guide, this bottle would be there, radiating good cheer. Treat yourself for $39.95, and stock up on six for free shipping.
