Whichever erratic direction the temperatures go outside, we’re still smitten with this Napa-meets-France Chardonnay. Have you tried this botanical bliss yet? Add an ice pack to ship now, or have us hold your box until temps level into the safe zone.

Complant’s Linda Vista Chardonnay tastes like heaven. It’s one of those wines that sort of unlocks a graceful chamber in the mind. A Zen garden corner. The delicate yellow hue leads into a bouquet of lemon zest, jasmine, barely ripe pear, and mineral. Its dreamy, round texture is somehow both dense and spacious. Creamy key lime pie sensuously melds with lychee, red grapefruit, and thyme. Simple, clean freshness and fleshy ripeness are pinned together by bright acidity… and all this gorgeousness is yours for as little as $14.95!

And we haven’t even talked about the pedigree. The grapes came from Linda Vista Vineyard, a certified organic site behind the home of legendary viticulturist Steve Matthiasson. (Yes, across a creek in his actual backyard.) The 2021 growing season was pristine, and the fruit was handled with tremendous intention by father-son duo Daniel and Sam Baron. Their Complant project combines their extensive experience in some of the most prestigious cellars of France and California. Daniel’s career is epic. He was on the vineyard crew at Chateau Montelena in 1973 – the same vintage that won the Judgement of Paris. In 1982, he was working in the cellars of Château Pétrus, home of some of the most collectible wines of all time. He spent 12 years at Dominus, followed by 23 years as the winemaker for Silver Oak. Sam learned the ropes at harvests in Burgundy and New Zealand before returning home to California to work for the likes of Broc, Nickel and Nickel, and Ashes and Diamonds. So you can see why $40 retail was a fair price, and 62% off is an outright steal.

The Barons chose native yeast fermentation, spontaneous malolactic, and nine months of aging on lees and in neutral Burgundy oak barrels. Their restrained touch and love of artisanal techniques culminated in bottling unfiltered. The result is so lovely it might win over that one anti-Chardonnay friend of yours – as well as the Sauv Blanc gals and the Pinot Gris guys.

Plan to open this bottle with anything elegant: fish, oysters, quiche, asparagus, endive salad, a ricotta tart… or your own artful attitude. And remember: six bottles brings it down to $19.95, and a full case unlocks the $14.95 steal. You’ll have free shipping either way.

About the Producer

Complant Winery, founded in 2017 by the father-son duo Daniel and Sam Baron, represents a harmonious blend of traditional and modern winemaking philosophies in Napa Valley. Daniel, renowned for his tenure at esteemed wineries like Chateau Petrus, Dominus Estate, and Silver Oak Cellars, brings decades of experience rooted in classical techniques. His son, Sam, complements this with a background in sustainable and low-intervention winemaking, having worked across Napa, Sonoma, Burgundy, and New Zealand.

The name "Complant," derived from an archaic French term for a cultivated vine, underscores their belief in the symbiotic relationship between humans and the vineyard. Their wines, including the 2020 Chardonnay from the organically farmed Linda Vista Vineyard and the 2020 Cabernet Sauvignon from the historic Oakville South Station Vineyard, are crafted to express the unique terroir of each site with minimal intervention .
Committed to sustainability, Complant eschews unnecessary packaging like capsules, opts for lighter glass bottles, and uses natural corks to reduce environmental impact . Through their meticulous approach, the Barons produce wines that are both expressive of their origins and reflective of a forward-thinking vision for Napa Valley winemaking.
