Halfway between LA and San Francisco, there’s a place where you can make a cinematically opulent Bordeaux blend: Paso Robles! Just $22.95 per bottle when you buy FOUR or more, with shipping on us.

This 2019 is a Meritage (pronounced like “heritage”), which means a California-style Bordeaux red blend. The siblings behind Ragtag Wine Co. are turning the glamorous party vibes all the way up! It’s a heady concoction of Petit Verdot (38%), Cabernet Sauvignon (31%), and Malbec (31%) from two vineyards in Paso. Vivacious strawberry, blackberry, and candied cherry percolate with sultry plum, cigar box, milk chocolate, and vanilla. The acid is low, and the texture is round and lush. Raspberry liqueur and black pepper articulate the concentrated finish. Dark and showy, this delivers a case-worth of personality in every bottle – for a mere $22.95 on Invino.

Did you know? “Ragtag” was a 1700s dig at the struggling working class. The word was eventually adopted with pride by the people it was meant to belittle, signifying scrappy resourcefulness. Speaking of patchwork, there’s something excitingly different about this wine – likely thanks to 18 months in a fun mix of barrels: new and used French, Hungarian, and American oak. But it’s that big, inky, aromatic Paso fruit that’s ultimately seducing us here. Paso power to the people! At well over 50% off, it’s irresistible.

About the Producer

Jeff Huskey began his career in the San Luis Obispo wine industry in 2008, hoping to eventually make wines under his own label. His sister, Sarah Brewer, was an entrepreneur and wine enthusiast. They launched Ragtag Wine Co. in 2016, sourcing fruit from a “ragtag” collection of vineyards across the Central Coast, from San Luis Obispo to Paso Robles to Monterey County.
