REVIEWS

"The 2012 Yaso is 100% Tinta de Toro aged six months in French oak. It boasts a dense ruby/purple color as well as a big, sweet perfume of blackberries, white chocolate, licorice and graphite. Full-bodied and opulent, it offers a fresh, full, exuberant mouthful of red wine with some minerality as a result of the high-elevation limestone soils from which the grapes emerge. It should drink well for a minimum of 4-5 years."- Wine Advocate

The 2012 Yaso Red sees just enough time in oak to mellow the tannins and round out the fruit profile.  The nose is ripe and round, with dark berries and graphite, all floating over a gentle cedar base.  The palate is layered and soft with ripe plum, bright acids, and some warm leather on the finish.  A supple texture and lasting finish keep you coming back for more.  Enjoy now through 2020. - DZ Feb 2017

Stellar ratings from acclaimed critics (93 from Robert Parker and 94 from Weekly Wine Journal) for a wine from a Spanish producer known to consistently deliver incredible value for exceptional quality wine that will appeal to a multitude of big, red fans. Wine lovers are always on the hunt for a collusion just like this, so it seems the stars have aligned in the 2012 Yaso Red Toro Tempranillo.

Yaso is a really nice big and well-rounded wine made from 100% Tempranillo (Tinta de Toro) from a single vineyard on the Yaro farm in the D.O. of Toro in north west Spain. Winemaking tradition in Toro dates back even before the Roman domination, more than 2,000 years ago. From the beginning the Tinta de Toro variety has produced great red wine that is full of flavor and complexity: powerful and full bodied with great tannins. The Toro D.O. region has earned a reputation for powerful and muscular Tempranillo wines, yet Yaso gracefully departs from that paradigm with a more gentle and sophisticated expression.

The wine opened up nicely after decanting for an hour.  The nose is really pleasant; blackberry with a hint of cherry pie, yet grassy with a little mint and clove augmenting its complexity.  The palate is medium to full, and the flavors mingle nicely with exuberant blackberry, red licorice, a little spice, and even a little chocolate.  Very nice texture on the back end gives the wine a nice weighty mouth-feel reminiscent of the “Rutherford dust” from a Napa Cab. This wine finishes strong and pleasantly permeates the mouth as it lingers. This is a Cabernet lover’s Tempranillo.

In Greek Mythology, the Goddess Yaso, also known as Panacea, is known for health and healing. So heal what ails you and toast to good health with this seductive wine that, at this ridiculously low price, will make you giddy as if you’ve gotten away with something.

TASTING NOTES

Intensity medium high. Red cherry with garnet hints. Clean and shiny. Nose: Good intensity, fruits are predominant, reminding of cherries, morello cherries and berries marmelade. Flowery violet tones, mixed with spice, mentol, balsamic aromas and black liquorice. Mouth: pleasant attack and balance. Fresh sensations with volume. Fruity and noble wood hints, together with spice, coffee and liquorice in the back nose.

The Osborne – Osborne Family, whose story with the world of wine dates back to the 18th Century, has been dedicated to advancing their oenological project over the past 15 years, focusing on small Wineries and those wines tied to specific vineyard estates.   The management of this project is the responsibility of the COMPAÑÍA DE VIÑEDOS IBERIAN, S.L., which also belongs to the family. Today, they are present in the Spanish Denominations of Origin of Ribera del Duero, Toro, Rueda, Priorat, Cava-Penedés, Rioja, Rías Baixas, Bierzo, Vino de la Tierra de Castilla and Jerez.

Our Philosophy

The outlook focuses on the ongoing study of vineyards and the soil they rest upon in addition to the separation and selection of the vineyard terrain-batches of the Vineyard Estates and the wines which they produce. The wines follow different processes every step of the way which may vary both in the production and the ageing of the respective wines, so that once finished the final result of the wine may be determined through regular tastings and subsequently bottled under its corresponding brand.

We strive to ensure that the result of this entire process presents a true reflection in its expression of the personality of each our vineyards.

Our Team

Our company is ran by professionals that are qualified and experienced in all branches related to the wine making business, under the supervision and management of The Board of Directors, formed by the Osborne-Osborne family themselves. This is backed up by a national network of over 50 distributors scattered across the principal Spanish cities and provinces, in addition to the exportation of our wines to more than 30 countries. It is Mr. Álvaro Trigueros Vicente who takes care of our Technical Management department.

This would pair well with Thai beef salad, marinated Korean BBQ pork, Peking duck and meat or chicken dishes with a piquant play of spices.
