97pts, Decanter Asia Wine Awards
Gorgeous spicy black fruit and prune nose. Round, ripe tannins and precise blackberry fruit on the palate with great character and hints of spice box and cedarwood. An outstanding Ribera with prodigious length and persistence.

94pts, James Suckling
This delivers all the power of Ribera with some refinement and elegance. Dark plums, blackberries and violets and gently toasty oak that is well integrated and adds clove and chocolate. The palate has effortless depth, the tannins wrapped neatly around dark plums. Drink or hold.

94pts, Decanter
There’s lots to admire here - fleshy, sweet, juicy red and black berry fruits, with touch of briar alongside fennel seed and tobacco. It has some power and heft, balanced and underscored by ripe tannin and moreish acidity. This is a modern Ribera style with a good savoury finish that demands another glass. THE STORY TO KNOW

Bodegas Portia is Grupo Faustino’s most recent winery project and is the 7th winery in the group. Located in the heart of Ribera del Duero, the Portia winery is a display of modern design, winemaking function and artistic detail. The brand offers very small production wines - intense, energetic & balanced.

Designed by renowned British architect, Sir Norman Foster, the $47.7 million winery project is the perfect link between winemaking, the environment and haute architecture. Built in concrete, wood, steel and glass, its 12,500 square metres are spread over three floors in the form of a star whose three points correspond to the different areas of vinification, fermentation and ageing. Complete with an awarded restaurant, Triennia Gastrobar.

The Martinez family purchased nearly 400 acres in the 1990s, focused on the high-quality possibilities in the Roa, Gumiel de Izán, Villanueva, and Gumiel de Mercado regions, known collectively as ‘the golden triangle’ of Ribera del Duero. These very special high-elevation vineyard plots vary from 700-850 meters above sea level. Eastern and southern facing vineyards are on clay soils and are planted chiefly Tempranillo, with an average density of 1,200 vines per acre. The continental climate experiences hot temperatures during the dry summer and freezing, bitter winters. This extreme variation allows the grapes to develop intense aromatics.

The barrel cellar holds 2,000 barriques (90% French, 10% American) and 500,000+ bottles in the aging room. The Portia wines reflect the fruit characteristics – balanced, bright and powerful - across the range, from Roble to Crianza, Prima, Triennia and up to the pinnacle of boutique craft, Summa.
