The 2015 Les Launes Crozes Hermitage is a superb example of this region. The 100% Syrah pours a dark violet with an aromatic nose of backberry, blueberry, black pepper and a hint of mediterranean herbs. The palate is silky and refined, with plenty of juicy dark fruit on the midpalate. The finish is dry but lush, with black cherry, graphite and black tea over the stiff tannin. Enjoy now through 2022. - DZ Jun 2017
You’ll hear the siren call of hedonistic Syrah. No wonder Wine Search calls it “one of the more sought-after wines from the region,” Delas Freres delivers the enticing robust red that made French royalty clamor at the gates.
Reasons we love it:
- A serious vintage. 2015 offered up an ideal growing season in Crozes-Hermitage. The full force of ripe and powerful Syrah frames deep red fruit, leather, and spice. Poised at the precipice of full bodied and delicate complexity, each glass leaving you on the terraced slopes of Rhone for a glorious sunset.
- Les Launes Rouge covers 11 communes along the left bank of the Rhone River. These granite subsoils caress rolled stone terraces. The warmth of the day collects in these soils to be reflects back at the vines, warming the grapes to ensure that the thick skinned Syrah grapes ripen fully.
Everything about Delas Freres is built around delivering the full impact of Rhone wine to the world. The company founded in 1835 has developed a vast and glorious following, our wine sourcing team among that crowd. With good reason too, their commitment to quality shines from the soils through their vines and this stunning bottle.
The wine has a deep garnet red color. It is fruity on the nose with strong aromas of cassis, plums and a touch of violets. The tannic structure is ample and well-rounded, which assures good aging potential
The famous Delas Frères wine company was founded back in 1835. Since 1996, the spirit and soul that contributed to its reputation for high quality wines have been restored.
The company's new management has made important investments in the Saint-Jean-de-Muzols production site near Tournon-sur-Rhône.
Its highly-motivated team is proud to play its part in the revival of the quality of this venerable Rhône Valley wine company. A specially designed vat-house for the vinification of red wines, as well as a full restructuring of the ageing cellars, are among the new quality measures at Delas, all aimed at perpetuating and enhancing the expression of the Terroir.
