Surrounded by ‘Cult Wine Royalty’ in the Oakville AVA of Napa Valley, the Teaderman Family has quietly built a library of impressive cabernets and a beautifully balanced Sauvignon Blanc.

In 1978, Stan Teaderman and his wife, Patty, bought the 14-acre Oakville property that became Teaderman Vineyards. At that time, the vineyard was planted to Sauvignon Blanc grapes that were sold to Robert Mondavi Winery for their famous Fume Blanc. Stan continued to provide Sauvignon Blanc to Robert Mondavi, as well as to other wineries throughout the Napa Valley.  Over time, given the ideal mid-valley location terroir of the estate, Stan began to plant select parts of the vineyard to Cabernet Sauvignon—the varietal that has made Oakville famous the world over. In 1984, he began making small amounts of wine for family and friends, and then launched the official Teaderman Vineyards label with the 2001 vintage of Cabernet Sauvignon.

100% estate-grown at Teaderman Vineyards in the Oakville AVA of Napa Valley. After gentle hand harvest, Sauvignon Blanc grapes are pressed as whole clusters in our membrane press. We then allow them to cold settle in a stainless steel tank, where fermentation begins. When the wine reaches 16˚Brix, we transfer it into barrels (20% new French oak) to finish fermenting. The wine ages on its yeast lees for nine months with batonage (hand stirring) during the first four months to re-suspend the lees and encourage a creamy texture.

TASTING NOTES

Teaderman Vineyards 2017 Sauvignon Blanc is sourced from the estate in the heart of Napa Valley’s Oakville American Viticultural Area. Aromas of honeydew melon, guava, and grapefruit—with a hint of Meyer lemon—mingle with notes of wet stone and vanilla. These characters carry over onto a lively palate, where crisp acidity is moderated by a touch of creaminess from oak aging. This balanced, food friendly wine brings out the best in scallops, creamy pastas, and a variety of quiches.

Today Teaderman Vineyards produces Cabernet Sauvignon in the renowned classic Oakville style, with dark ruby color and deep fruit character. We continue to make Sauvignon Blanc as well, with our vineyard delivering the crisp, tropical fruit character that has made our version of this varietal a favorite.
