A Mouthful of Citrus is What I Love in a Good Sauv Blanc
And you're telling me this is from the Loire Valley? Under $15? Well hot damn, sign me up! Especially in these toasty summer days. Here in Napa, a crisp and citrusy Sauvignon Blanc is just what the doctor ordered, and exactly what I needed. If you're dealing with the heat like I am, you'll want to jump right in to this pool.
Grassy lemon rind on the nose. Limestone minerality comes through bright on a light, fresh palate. Tropical citric acids tingle, showing signs of kumquat and lemon pulp. It finishes with a light floral quality, and suddenly my thirst is quenched. Easy drinking and ready to pop. 92 Points - JZ July '18

Things to Know:
The Loire is where Sauv Blanc has had its most legendary run of success, particularly in Sancerre and Pouilly-Fume, where the grape is sometimes called blanc fume. Less famously in the Loire, notable sauvignon blanc also comes from Quincy, Reuilly and Menetou-Salon.
The 2016 was marked a "stellar" vintage, noted for yielding Sauvignon Blanc of exceptional concentration and aromatic intensity, thanks to fantastic weather leading up to the pivotal harvest time.
Direct imported from the winery, invino is the exclusive retailer in the US to offer this wine. Cave de Gortona has grown to be a top requested Loire producer, renowned for its Sancerre sell-outs.

From the winery:
It all began with Pauline, the great-grandmother of Eric, who in 1860 sold her wine at markets. "Les Celliers de la Pauline” (Pauline’s Cellars) owe their name to her as well as our special vintage which was named "Cuvée Pauline" in her honour.
Then his son, Julien, with his wife Louise, took up the torch after Pauline, caring for the vineyard and his wine keeping to the same traditions, with love and respect.
Later came his son Leon, who by marrying Ginette, joined two vineyards, and created the Cellars of the Pauline.
Ginette's father, Paul Cantin known as "Robert" was a famous regional storyteller. He knew how to describe the Sancerre and its traditions in the local dialect and singing about the past.
It was in the 70s that Sancerre became famous in France and even out with our borders, and “les Celliers de la Pauline” established themselves at this time too, thanks to the work of Léon Louis.
The inheritor of all of this tradition, nowadays it is Eric Louis who creates the family wines with the same love and respect for the vine.
