The illustrious treasure of Rhone’s Condrieu shines brightly in Sonoma’s Russian River Valley. Here among the rolling hills which overlook the pastoral landscape, California’s endless sunshine combines with the rolling Pacific fog to flawlessly ripen Viognier grapes in the (wait for it) Goldridge soil.

We’re not the only longtime fans of Windsor Oaks wines. Their loyal customer following is drawn to more than just the great wine. Windsor Oaks takes their commitment as stewards of the land seriously. Of their 700 acres, only 250 are planted to vines. The rest is dedicated to the “Forever Wild Open Space.” This wilderness runs around and between sustainably farmed vines, ensuring that the vines deliver the full expression of this special place.
Windsor Oaks cold-pressed and cool-fermented their Viognier to protect the classic field of flowers and basket of stone fruit flavors. In classic style, the 2012 Windsor Oaks Reserve Viognier spends time aging on its lees. The resulting wine is opulent, keeping the powerful aromatics balanced with lemon-peel acid and whet stone minerality.
To concentrate its bright, lush flavors and powerful fragrance, we cold pressed the fruit to neutral barrels and fermented using a very long, cool “sur-le” winemaking style. Partial malolactic fermentation maintains the vibrant, fresh flavors and bright acidic structure. The result is 5 barrels, bursting with ripe, honeyed stone fruits, a hint of meadow flowers and clean minerality.
The Vineyards of Windsor Oaks are located in Sonoma County; In the foothills and benchlands overlooking the Russian River Valley and Mayacamas Mountains, between the cities of Santa Rosa and Healdsburg. The entire property is in excess of 700 acres, of which approximately 450 acres have been deeded to the Sonoma County Open Space District and are designated "Forever Wild". The acreage, including 210 acres in grapevines, is uniquely situated in the Russian River Valley, Chalk Hill, and Sonoma Coast appellations, representing three of the most recognized growing regions for outstanding quality winegrapes.
