Côtes du Rhône wines are generally some of our favorites that consistently overdeliver on quality. It’s easier than not to find bottlings that are food-friendly, really delicious and relatively inexpensive (though on the flip side, there are plenty of duds, which is why you have us! Sorting through the duds and only selecting the best!). Enter this Sélection Laurence Féraud, which if you’re familiar with the Féraud name, you’ll know that she also runs the legendary CdP house, Domaine du Pegau, with her father. With a strong network of contacts in Southern Rhône, Laurence is able to source amazing quality fruit to bottle under this négociant label, by which we’re able to get at an astounding price ($10!!).

The wine is made in a similar style Pegau is famous for: layered, earthy wines reflecting the terroir. In addition to just being plain delicious and way too easy-drinking (did we just admit that? Better go recycle the evidence…), spice is at the core here. Lots of earthy toasted peppercorns, anise, and leather with fresh raspberries, black cherries and ripe tannins.

$10 a bottle! $60 for a 6-pack with shipping included! Under screw cap so it’s easy to take just about anywhere. Get on it friends, you won’t be disappointed!

TASTING NOTES

Medium bodied with ripe tannins and definitive notes of spice including earthy toasted peppercorns, leather and anise over black cherries and raspberries.

THE STORY TO KNOW

Over the years Laurence built a strong network of contacts in the Southern Rhône Valley, which she leverages to source top quality fruit from beyond the Pegau estate. She bottles these wines under her negociant label, “Selection Laurence Féraud”. This range consistently delivers outstanding value and some of the best wines in the region.
