Among the world’s most ambitious yet intimate wine estates (to which one usually arrives by boat), Finca Míllara is the dream of Fernando de Santiago, who fell in love with the emerging, dramatic and nearly inaccessible Ribeira Sacra wine district, a historically significant wine region that had been virtually abandoned.

In 2000, he began purchasing parcels in the uninhabited hamlet of A Míllara overlooking the Miño, eventually acquiring the entire township and its surrounding slopes from hundreds of proprietary descendants. Reclaiming and restructuring the vineyard terraces A Míllara itself— following strict guidelines to maintain original architecture— incorporated the modern winemaking and aging facility.


Pale red color with purple highlights. Very nice on the nose with a burst of fruit. Balsamic and floral notes in the background. Soft despite his youth. Very balanced and fresh palate.


The winery, with an area of ​​700m2, is a construction of medieval origin, made of oak and stone from the area. Located in the village of A Míllara, in the heart of the Ribeira Sacra, it is a privileged enclave in the canyons of the River Miño. It is semi-buried, as a continuation of the natural slope of the land where it is nestled, which guarantees a constant temperature, naturally throughout the year.

Being perfectly integrated with the vines, the deterioration in the transport of the grape is minimized, and it has advances and machinery of last generation.

Throughout the years an integral rehabilitation has been carried out respecting its original architecture.

In Finca Míllara we make our own grapes and work the land as our ancestors did, in an artisan way, with plow, without herbicides, obtaining an excellent quality, kilo and a half per vine.

The terrain is soft rusty slate with a slope of 50%, with little rainfall, which forces the roots of the strains to deepen and thus extract the full potential of the "terroir". With this methodology of work, we have achieved, over ten years, an area of ​​210,000 m2 of quality vineyards, in one of the best production areas of DO Ribeira Sacra.


Recommended for light meals like pasta, rice, meats, fish and aperitifs.
