Paydirt is based in Paso Robles, and we LOVE their rich, pedal-to-the-metal, fruit-forward red blends -- GOING FOR BROKE is one of the very best yet, just landed in the warehouse at a FANTASTIC price. Grab a few while we have it!

If you like rockin’ red blends like The Prisoner (proprietor Patrick McNeil actually helped launch The Prisoner with Dave Phinney back in 2001), you’ll LOVE this - and pay a lot less. Based on Zinfandel, with varying amounts of Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre, the nose is filled with ripe blackberries, smoked plum, orange relish, cranberry, blueberry compote, white pepper, and dark chocolate. The palate is round, juicy, and bursting with freshness and concentrated red and dark fruit components. The finish is persistent, layered and vibrant, with a touch of spice.

Fun fact: There is a significant chunk of fruit from the famed Dusi vineyard (made famous by Turley and Ridge) -- DELICIOUS, juicy, hedonistic, finely made Zin with plenty of gusto at a SUPERB PRICE ($108 a 6-pack delivered!). Back up the truck!

THE STORY TO KNOW

"The Paydirt wines represent the art of discovery, the act of going for broke, and the idea that risking it all brings about the greatest reward.

In terms of actual dirt, Paydirt is all about the chalky, alluvial, limestone-rich soils that pervade the western hillsides of Paso Robles."
