This is our second purchase from the recently-shuttered Together Wine Co. (the first was the ‘15, still have a few bottles). The excellent 2013 is drinking perfectly, amazingly priced, and wildly drinkable and satisfying.
The blend for the ‘13 is a proprietary blend of top notch fruit from all over Napa Valley. A blend of primarily Bordeaux varietals (the 2015 was Grenache based), Grant Long shows off his impressive blending prowess, creating a wine that is drinking at its peak right now. From a vintage that Robert Parker proclaimed, “The Greatest Vintage I've Tasted in 37 Years Visiting Northern California”, this is a vintage that produced wines of incredible concentration and density with intense tannins (many of the wines were very hard when they were young) that have really started to mellow out in the last few years. This ‘13 from Grant Long is just hinting at its age with some wonderful secondary character like leather and cherry tobacco, but there is so much primary fruit here...it is still a hedonist's wine with blackberry pie, mocha and cherry aromas and flavors that are wrapped in beautifully proportioned tannins. This is a ridiculous value at our price and one that you should buy by the case from this epic vintage in Napa. While it lasts...!
