It certainly isn’t everyday you get a wine from the Rothschild family at your fingertips….and one that’s available at 40% off from the brilliant 2015 vintage. Yes, we said Rothschild. And yes, we said 40% OFF. Oh and did we mention the 92pt score from Wine Spectator? Bonkers. 2015?! How on earth we do this sometimes is just mind-boggling.

Domaine de Baron’arques has existed since the 17th century and was acquired by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and her children in 1998. Located in the Limoux region of Bordeaux, the 110 hectare estate is planted to Bordeaux and Mediterranean varieties allowing for a truly unique expression of place and one that veers ever-so-slightly from the classic Bordeaux expression. While you may be thinking, “Mediterranean varietals? In Bordeaux?” Don’t let the uniqueness fool you. This wine is 100% crafted in the same style as Mouton-Rothschild, but the result is a gutsier, lustier wine that explodes with complex aromas and flavors.

Just let Wine Spectator explain the glories: ""A suave, full-bodied red, showcasing a profile packed with cedar, ripe cherry and currant flavors. Rich touches of licorice and espresso are matched with notes of tea, graphite and dried herb on the long, structured finish.” 92pts!!

This is warm, inviting, balanced. Berries and black currants for days, Earl Grey tea, anise, mocha, roasted coffee, wild and spicy. It’s a treat! You don’t see Rothschild wines priced like this.

There’s not a lot available, so we recommend acting quick!

TASTING NOTES

Warm and balanced with notes of blackberries and black currants, Earl Grey tea, anise, balsamic, mocha, and roasted coffee. Harmonious with a long finish.

THE STORY TO KNOW

Domaine de Baronarques has existed since the 17th century. After several changes of ownership, the estate was acquired by Baroness Philippine de Rothschild and her children in 1998. After extensive renovation of the vineyard and winery, it now produces very high quality wines. The estate spans 110 hectares (272 acres), 43 of them (106 acres) planted with Bordeaux and Mediterranean grape varieties. In 2003, Domaine de Baronarques was granted the AOC Limoux rouge appellation by the Institut National des Appellations d’Origine (INAO). Its wide variety of soils and micro-climates give its wines great complexity.
