Gold Medal Winner - Sonoma County Harvest Wine Fair
It's a Beautiful Day for Pinot.
And how. There are just some days that I want a savory wine that isn't heavy. In comes the Jigar Russian River Pinot (and single vineyard to boot). It's the perfect wine for that weird in-between time of the seasons, and exactly what I'm popping open tonight.
Earl grey, strawberry & cola on the nose. Tart red currant, raspberry, strawberry guava and passionfruit come through on a smooth and rounded palate. It finishes as it starts, light and supple. It's the Russian River Pinot for all types. -92 Points - JZ March '18

This Iron Horse micro producer is what gives Pinot fanatics goosebumbs. World-class Pinot Noir from Vintner Jigar Patel, it's a single vineyard wine that shows a single-minded focus on forging strong ties with a handful of Pinot farmers, including many of the great names in the North Coast translates to one impressive pour.
·The 2013 vintage was near perfect in the Russian River Valley. The Wine Spectator notes: “A long and moderate growing season offered both good quality and quantity” and lists Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Syrah as the most promising grapes.
·From the PinotFile: “A husband and wife team, Jigar and Stephanie Patel started Jigar Wines in the Dry Creek Valley region of Sonoma County, enlisting the expertise of winemaker Erik Miller of Kokomo Wines to craft the wines initially.
· Jigar’s non-interventionist philosophy means very little new oak is used during the maturation of this Pinot, which spends a short time in 100% French oak, only 25% of which is new.
·Russian River’s famed “goldridge soil” is at the heart of this unctuous Pinot—providing perfect terroir for this notoriously challenging grape.
Working with these farmers at every step of the growing season and during harvest provided Patel with a perfectly primed canvas for this 2013 Pinot. With earthy loam and woodsy notes playing off bright cranberry and red stone fruit elements, this sexy red is textbook Russian River Pinot. The wine took home a Gold Medal in the 2016 Sonoma County Harvest Fair. At just 271 cases produced, this rare offer is not to be missed.
This complex pinot has notes of cranberry, raspberry, pomegranate, & red plum with hints of slate forest floor and peaty moss creating an elegant finish. It is a delicate Russian River Valley pinot with a nice acid balance.
