This elegant pinot noir has the surety of fresh, completely ripe fruit. It’s all of a piece, the tannins fully integrated, the plump fruit lasting in a distinctly earthy finish. Still closed, this needs bottle age to develop complexity. Jean-Charles Boisset makes JCB with the winemaking team at De Loach. -W&S
Medium ruby hue. Reticent bouquet opens to floral and spice aromas with a pleasant, clean edge of dried citrus. Crisp and lean on entry, slowly unfolding to offer a broad palette of flavors including red and black cherry, red flowers and citrus notes accented by pleasing hints of herbs and grilled fruit. -WN
A somewhat more deeply pitched nose features a bit more earth as well as blue berry notes together with similar very fresh red pinot fruit that merges into richer, fuller and more complex medium-bodied flavors that possess better mid-palate concentration and a bit more length as well. I like the sappy texture and this is a mix of both fruit and soil-driven components. Lovely and overall, there is just more here. -AM
An interesting new wine that aims for balance and elegance rather than powerful fruit extraction. Shows an acid-inspired crispness that brightens wild berry, currant, cola and peppery spice flavors. Despite the silky mouthfeel, it feels undeveloped. This score reflects its current drinkability, but it could surprise in 4–6 years or longer. -WE
Nose with blueberry and cherry with floral notes and spice. Fruit carries to the refined palate with layers of cherry cola, pepper, spice and lots of dark berry with some hints of citrus. Nice concentration and great acidity with a nice backbone. Long finish with integrated tannins. Drinking well, but strong candidate for further development with a couple more years in the bottle and should good for several years after that. -TW

A wine that exemplifies what the "Master of Burgundy" does so well, (finding amazing fruit and turning in an epic and age worthy wine of distinction), this is100% Pinot Noir from the Mendocino Ridge Appellation, an intimate, tumultuous, and intense spot where vineyards sit above the fog line, planted with Clone 115 and 777. Fruit from vineyards that are sustainably farmed and have very small yields and production, and crafted by the winemaking team at De Loach, the result is a wine that’s a mix of both fruit and soil-driven components, coming together as a rich, full and complex Pinot.
