2010 L’hermitage de Nantoux Burgundy
Hautes Côtes de Nuits
Direct Import | "Lighter" Burgundy
Why We're Drinking It
Burgundian Pinot Noir at this price is enough to make any French-loving Member say, "oh la la!" From a vineyard perched on high slopes atop the famed Grand Cru vineyards, our Sourcing Team combed the rustic Burgundy soil for days to find a lighter-styled, Pinot Noir gem like this one. A true insiders find, directly imported by your's truly, it's full of romantic French character and a delicious dose of handcrafted Pinot personality.
Four reasons we love it:
• Hautes Côtes. Meaning "high slopes," Hautes Côtes de Nuits sits above the Grand Cru slopes of Burgundy.
• Lighter Burgundy. This one has all the personality of Burgundy, without being overbearing—perfect for summer evenings.
• Artisan Production. From a small village in Hautes Côtes de Nuits, this small-lot producer caught our attention with quality, classic Burgundy wines, hand harvested with deep knowledge of the terroir.
• Silky & Pleasant. Boasts aromas of cherry, liquorice, and violet. A firm, straightforward taste, with just the right amount of body.
Hautes Cotes de Nuits
Light citrus aromas. Silky, light, very pleasant, smooth, good balance.
The Story to Know
From the Winery
The soils of the area are very diverse in nature; each village has its own personality.
However, there are three main types of soil: hard limestone Jurassic limestones and calcareous old alluvium. The harvest is done manually for our villages.
Every step of the winemaking is based on constant research to preserve the best of the product. The vinification and aging seek, above all, to emphasize the unique qualities of each wine, lighter seeing very little wood.
A great match with grilled sole, salmon or other fatty fish, roasted chicken or pasta dishes.
