"Strikingly spicy aromas of fresh and pure wild red berries, warm earth, wet stone and a hint of humus. There is good richness and excellent intensity to the detailed and mineral-inflected medium weight plus flavors that possess good phenolic maturity and a firm core of ripe tannins on the strikingly long finish. By the standards of the appellation this is not a particularly big or robust Bèze but the balance is impeccable and the harmony among structural elements is really lovely." -Burghound (93 Points)
"Round and fleshy, with intense cherry, raspberry, wild berry, earth and spice flavors. Succulent and persistent, showing great balance and well-integrated tannins, delivering an aftertaste of cherry and spice. Best from 2017 through 2035." - Wine Spectator 95
Lock in the nation's best price of a benchmark Grand Cru Burgundy that normally retails for $250.00 per bottle. This is still a baby and would benefit another 2-3 years of bottle age before enjoying.
Pierre-Emanuel is the grandson of Pierre Gelin who began the domaine in 1925. Pierre-Emanuel has assumed control of the winery from his parents. Gelin is interested in organic production and wants to produce "pure, honest wines." In 2011, the Gelin family modernized their winery, making it more sustainable and efficient all the while maintaining their high quality. The 11.5 hectare domaine has a range of vineyards straddling Fixin and Gevrey-Chambertin.
