"Meant to represent the many characteristics of Sonoma County-grown Pinot Noir, from fruity to spicy to leathery to ripe, this is an intriguing wine, soft and measured, restrained even, highlighted by clove-type spice and brambly dark cherry."- Wine Enthusiast

The 2011 Pinot Noir made by Ancient Oak Cellars is classic Sonoma County, with juicy red fruit, cola and bramble blending on an approachable and easy going palate.  Drinking way above our price, the bright acids and smooth texture balance perfectly and the delicious fruit lingers on the finish for well over a minute.  You should not skip this one.  Enjoy now through 2020. - DZ Aug 2016

Fruit and spice and everything nice! We can’t get enough of this red-purple gem “meant to represent the many characteristics of Sonoma County-grown Pinot Noir…an intriguing wine” - Wine Enthusiast, who also awarded this vintage 90 points and Editors’ Choice. Worth the praise? Absolutely!

If you’re looking for that ‘any night of the week wine’ that can transcend the social boundaries to make an appearance at dinner parties and fine soirées, this punctual Pinot is for you! It most certainly takes the guesswork out of selecting your go-to high quality, affordable Burgandy.

Reasons why we love it:

As part of the Ancient Oak Cellars family, we expect nothing but quality from this little sister winery. Owners Ken and Melissa Moholt-Siebert put passion into their labels crowning 47 Friends the bottle worthy of “playing bocce on the Sonoma coast, and cooking and eating countless meals and drinking countless glasses of wine together.”

Our Tasting Panel agrees with the Prince of Pinot that you can expect “aromas of black cherry and raspberry...with accents of cola and herbal oak” from this silky vintage. A serious feat from this varietal we love and yet know how hard it is to make perform. But here it is! Especially crafted to be enjoyed by all.

Satisfying. Tasty. We say, “Kudos to the 47 Friends winemaking team!” Free shipping on 6+ bottles is worth the investment at our astounding 59% off retail offer available specially for our valued Members. That’s you!

TASTING NOTES

The 2011 sonoma county bottling is a structured and complex style of Pinot Noir. Dark fruit flavors with Christmas Cake spice notes highlight this complex, medium-bodied wine.

THE STORY TO KNOW

47 Friends Wine is fortunate to have a "big sister" winery called Ancient Oak Cellars.  Ancient Oak does all the things a big sister should do: provide a good role model, have good-looking friends to have a crush on, have all the teachers think you must be great because she is, and get us invited to all the good parties.  When you want to try some wines from this kind of high-achieving, amazing-big-sister-kind-of winery,

PERFECT PAIRINGS

This bottling will pair with duck and other game birds, casseroles, and beef bourguignon.
