"Elegant as all hell! I never knew a New World Pinot Noir could taste like this.  Rounded cherry, boysenberry, and fennel on the nose, oak, black pepper, dried violets, and just a hint of vanilla on the palate. Feels very much like a Côte de Beune with its impeccable balance. It delivers now and will only get better in the next 5-10 years."  - 97 Insider Points

94pts Wine Enthusiast This exceptional vineyard, more than 35-years-old, brings a wealth of subtle details to a wine that has both grace and power. There's truffle, earth, mocha, plum, spice, coffee and on and on it goes, all well integrated already. Experience would suggest that wines from this vineyard, previously made for Sineann, are exceptionally ageworthy. Drink now if you must, or cellar and drink from 2022 to 2030.

92pts Vinous (aged in 50% new oak) Brilliant red. Deep-pitched red fruit preserve, cola, spicecake and floral pastille aromas are lifted and sharpened by a smoky mineral note. Intense, palate-staining raspberry and bitter cherry flavors show a spine of juicy acidity and slowly tighten up and become sweeter with aeration. Combines power and finesse with a deft hand and finishes impressively long, displaying excellent focus and a suave floral quality.

Maison Louis Jadot was founded by the Jadot Family in 1859—the same year as the State of Oregon. Nurturing premier and grand cru vineyards in Burgundy, Maison Louis Jadot earned a reputation for world-class wines made in small lots. In 1992, Pierre-Henry, André’s son, took over the role of President, and he launched the search for Maison Louis Jadot’s first winery in the New World in the early 2000s. As fortune would have it, Pierre-Henry discovered Résonance Vineyard at the exact moment when the next generation of the Gagey Family, Thibault Gagey, was ready to enter the business. Thibault became the Director of Operations of Résonance in 2013.

TASTING NOTES

Deep and intense garnet color. The nose is elegant and delicate, with a lot of black fruit, delicate spices, and a touch of fine oak. The palate is supple, full-bodied, and particularly well-balanced. The Résonance Vineyard terroir imparts its signature minerality and tannic structure, an effect known as “polished tannins.” The aromatic concentration is remarkable, with black cherry, blackberry, and blueberry aromas. The finish is very long, harmonious, and fresh.

2015 was a fantastic year. Everything, beginning with bud break, started early. As harvest approached, the Coast Range fended off the rains like a wall, allowing our estate Pinot Noir to develop intense concentration. The grapes within the Résonance Vineyard microclimate were close to perfection.

THE STORY TO KNOW

From the Winery Our signature estate Pinot Noir is the pure expression of our organically dry-farmed Résonance Vineyard, planted on un-grafted rootstock in 1981. Our Pinot Noir grapes are handpicked just steps from The Winery and hand-sorted upon arrival. During elevage, we control the juice with a light touch honed over 170 years of winemaking in Burgundy, boosting each vintage to achieve its most natural elegance and complexity. Résonance Vineyard Pinot Noir unveils the immense character, the “somewhereness” of this original site, within the Yamhill-Carlton AVA.
