Established in 1843, the estate is located on the edge of the city ramparts of Eguisheim – a historical place and one of France’s wine meccas. The art of wine making entails, among other things, to finding the best combinations between the variety of grape and the natural environment. The Albert Hertz estate proposes an extensive range of wines, with grape varieties like Sylvaner, Pinot Blanc, Muscat, Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewürztraminer, and Pinot Noir.

From 1982, the Albert Hertz estate gradually reduced, and then totally removed the use of fertilizers and chemicals. The soil, the vineyard and its whole environment were aligned with its philosophy: to produce authentic wines, which convey the grape variety as well as the place they come from, suing natural resources. Since 2007, Albert Hertz has crossed over to using biodynamic methods.
