Brothers Massimo and Ezio Negretti own prime stretches of vineyard in Roddi, La Morra and Monforte, and make powerful, classically-styled, ageable wines from their winery near La Morra. The container full of their awesome ‘15s just landed here in Napa and we started popping corks. The Mirau bottling, from two separate crus in La Morra (Rive and Bettolotti) has an intense and multifaceted aromatic spectrum. The core is soft and polished through a beautiful acid-tannic balance with depth and complexity. Cherries, rose, incense, Asian spices, even citrus...as we said, tons going on here and you get something different with every sip. A wine for the ages!
