Built for food, this lavish red blend is meant to sit on the dinner table.  A blend of Merlot and Cab from the best locations for those grapes, the wine is elegant and purposeful, not convoluted like many red blends can be.  The nose presents with plum and black cherry with a mild spice note and hint of sage.  The palate is supple and rich while also expressing a powerful acidity and great depth.  For anyone who’s wondering what to pair with dinner, this is it.  Drink now through 2018. - DZ

We love limited allocations. Especially when we're able to get our hands on an encore allotement. From Andy Erickson, star winemaker of Favia and Leviathan, we secured a second, limited amount of this restaurant-only wine brand created by the Screaming Eagle team at  the special invino price of sub-$20. The only downside to this 93 point rated Bordeaux inspired blend, is there’s not a lot of it, so there’s a 12 bottle max per member. offered with $0 Shipping on 2+ bottles, stock up while you can!

Four Things to Know:

From the team behind Jonata (which Robert Parker called California’s “most exciting new winery), managing partners of ultra-premium Pinot label Evening Lands, and who sold cult winery Screaming Eagle to start their new ventures Terroir Selections and Cultivate, they are responsible for over 20 wines rated 95 points or higher in the last ten years!

The Merlot-based “Feast” is a full-bodied, chewy wine that balances bright, high-toned notes (think raspberry, cassis, wild violets) with earthy sandalwood and star-anise. Blended from fleshy Merlot from renowned red-wine growing region Alexander Valley; structured Malbec from Santa Lucia Highlands and with length and texture from 9% Napa Cabernet Sauvignon.

While we’re drawn to the fleshy, soft Merlot in the blend, it’s the Cabernet’s structure and breed that really captures our attention with this wine.

Behind-the-scenes wine legend Charles Banks’ portfolio of brands, including Sandhi, Mulderbosch, Fable, and Leviathan allows him flexibility to create a broad assortment of wines all under the Cultivate label. And when we consider Banks’ experience running Jonata and Screaming Eagle, we think he’s got a pretty good idea of how to produce top-quality bottles!

Deep purple with a reddish rim, the wine opens up with incense, raspberry, red rose, and cinnamon aromas with deep black currant flavors, medium tannins with a tart but lingering finish.

The Story of Cultivate Wines JplogoIn the 80’s, The J. Peterman catalog was much more than a catalog. It was a source of inspiration. It allowed one to armchair travel, just by reading the stories of each of the products and where they came from. The catalog was such a cultural fixture that the brand even made guest appearances on the Seinfeld as Elaine’s place of work. It was this globe-trotting, treasure-hunting model that was one of the inspirations for Cultivate. We deploy our winemaking team across the globe, using our connections from all our other ventures in the wine world, to search out great juice to blend and bring back home to share with you, each time with a unique story and personality. As lovers of all styles and types of wines, this model gives us flexibility to create a broad assortment of wines all under the Cultivate label. But bringing wines from around the world was only one of the inspirations for Cultivate. Through Terroir Selections, our portfolio of other brands (also available for sale on this site), we were already involved in many interesting adventures in the wine world, including Sandhi, Mulderbosch, Fable, and Leviathan. There was something else that pushed us to start Cultivate– we had been bitten by the “connected capitalism” bug, and we wanted to find a way to use our specialty – wine – to make a difference in the world. Former President Bill Clinton, Nobel peace prize winner Muhammed Yunus, former CEO of Coca Cola, Neville Isdell, and many other thought leaders are outspoken in their belief that for-profit companies with a socially responsible mission have incredible potential to change the world, and we aim to prove them right. We created an innovative program, The GIVE, as a fundamental tenet of our business. The GIVE is our model of donating the first ten cents of every dollar that we make to non-profits supporting education and basic human needs. The revolutionary twist is that we do not direct the funds — instead, non-profits submit their cause and we allow customers to vote on our website. Our goal is to allow customers to express their values through their purchases, which means they need a voice in determining where the money goes.

Pair with steak, brie burgers, Italian sausages with fennel, or Chinese style crispy duck pancakes. Check out some of Cultivate’s favorite recipes here.
