Fresh off the water, a brand new vintage of our favorite Chablis, and the 7th vintage we’ve offered to our Members. 2017 was another small yield year in Chablis, so we’re very happy to have access to this wine, and without an excessive price hike. The wine is showing plenty of aromatic complexity and richness on the palate, with a classic high acidity that balances the wine nicely. Fresh flavors of nectarine and high toned lemon dominate the palate and the finish is wonderfully crisp and refreshing. Another killer vintage from our friends at Ellevin, drink now through 2023. 93 Points - JZ Nov 18

Brand New Release -- A Member exclusive that just made its way through customs, this steely, ultra-mineral refresher is a great baseline for authentic Chablis. From a successful vintage in Chablis AOC, it's yet to be rated by the wine press; is no surprise being ye another exceptional production for which we're happy to be the sole US importer.

Traditionalists in every sense of the word, the father-and-son team of Jean-Pierre and Alexandre vinify their Chablis in large, neutral vats and age the wine for 8 to 12 months to soften the insanely high and really quite wonderful acids of this grippy, brilliant white. Minerals in the nose and on the palate define this cool (make that COLD) climate Chardonnay. And it’s just these minerals and this white’s beautiful acid structure that make it a show stopper with food. Try anything from the sea, but don’t stop there. Chablis is also an outstanding pairing with buttery cheeses and rich chicken dishes, as its acid cuts right through the unctuousness of rich foods and enlivens the palate with every sip!

·    Chablis is “the world’s most distinctive Chardonnay and a prime example of the idea that good wine speaks deeply of its place of origin,” according to the New York Times (2014)
·    The family-owned Domaine Ellevin oversees 16 hectares of vines—all Chardonnay and spread throughout Chablis’ best sub regions, including the appellation’s top Premier Cru vineyards.
·    Chablis sits at the northernmost reach of Burgundy, and in fact is closer geographically to both Sancerre and Champagne than the Cote d’Or.
·    Temperatures here are cool, and the soil is rich in limestone covered by a thin layer of the region’s noted Kimmeridgian clay, which give the Chardonnay-based whites there their distinctive (and addictive) salinity.

Classic Chablis flavors show through in this wine with notes of citrus fruits and elegant texture. Very fresh and balanced.

Domaine Jean Pierre & Alexandre Ellevin is located 4km outside of Chablis in Burgundy and it is composed of a total of 13 ha. that includes wines from the following appellations: Petit Chablis, Chablis and Premier Cru Vaucoupin and Vosgros. It is a family owned Domaine in which the father Jean Pierre (head winemaker since 1975) and son Alexandre (in the winery since 2004) work the family soil together. Domaine Ellevin practices sustainable viticulture listening to the vines and finding the “terroir” expression.
