From the producer's estate at over 1,000 feet in elevation, this seamlessly textured wine grabs one's palate from the start and doesn't let go. Huckleberry and cedar notes meet bay leaf accents and grippy tannins, all enveloped in smoky oak. It finishes with bright, fresh blackberry. -Wine Enthusiast
A classic Napa Cab that is primed for any collector. Kuleto has jumped significantly in quality, and their 2013 Cabernet is showing everything they are capable of. Graphite and cranberry on the nose, followed by a full-bodied palate of black cherry, pomegranate, fresh herbs and oak tannin. The finish is medium length with more luscious fruit coming out on the back end. Drinking well now but will continue to age through 2025. 93 Points - JZ Nov '18

Kuleto Estate Vineyard, Napa Valley
Encompassing what may very well be the most impressive estate vineyard in California, Kuleto Estate’s 761 acres of vines perform sheer magic—especially in great vintages like 2013. Impossible to give justice to Kuleto Estate with mere words. We recommend a visit to this awesome vineyard and a long wander of its 100-micro blocks of vines, some perched on hillsides and ridges so steep, it’s a wonder anyone can harvest the fruit. Each of Kuleto’s micro blocks are treated as individual vineyards with their own ideal combination of clone, rootstock, density and farming methods, resulting in astonishing quality from each and an incredible variety of individual lots of wine that were blended to utter perfection after rigorous barrel tastings.
The final blend is 87% Cabernet Sauvignon, 5% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 4% Petit Verdot. “This seamlessly textured wine grabs one's palate from the start and doesn't let go,” Writes the Wine Enthusiast. “Huckleberry and cedar notes meet bay leaf accents and grippy tannins, all enveloped in smoky oak. From the winemaker:
The 2013 Estate Cabernet Sauvignon has an uncommon purity to its aromas. Fresh ripe berries, plums, red meat, bay leaves, the first smoke from a fire – each of these primary aromas vying for attention when first poured into the glass. The mouth is plush and succulent with red fruit flavors and a meaty, iron-like quality. It will be fascinating to see how the flavors and aromas integrate as the wine ages.
From the winery:
In 1992, culinary entrepreneur Pat Kuleto assembled five parcels from cattle ranchers to create a 761-acre ranch of wild hillside land on the eastern edge of the Napa Valley, overlooking Lake Hennessey, Pritchard Hill and the towns of Rutherford and St. Helena.
Plantings included cabernet sauvignon, sangiovese, pinot noir, chardonnay, syrah, zinfandel and muscat, planted at elevations ranging from 800 to 1450 feet. Construction of the state-of-the-art Kuleto-designed winery was finished in 2001, completing the vineyard estate that had grown to include extensive orchards, gardens, and a working ranch with sheep, fowl, cattle and fish from the property’s Lake Brunello.
Winemaker Dave Lattin and vineyard manager Alberto Ochoa individually cultivate and craft the small vineyard blocks at every stage of their development, focusing on lots as small as half a ton. Kuleto Estate is crafting excellent wines of character and distinction that reflect the remarkable attributes of their unique terroir.
Pair this with a rich beef or venison dish. The fruit and tannins in the wine with pair nicely with the protein in the meat.
