Those who enjoy mountain-grown Napa Cabernets will meet a true soulmate in this Captûre Alliance from Spring Mountain. And as with any mountain Cab, especially from a powerful vintage like 2013, the wine is still in its infancy, deserving at least a few more years of rest if not a couple of decades. This wine is for the patient, who can reap the rewards of uncorking after some time has passed.

Denis Malbec, who sadly passed away in 2016, crafted this amazing wine. He made his name in France, working at First Growth Château Latour for over a decade (as did his father) and was the master behind numerous 95-100pt wines in Napa including Kapcsandy and Blankiet.

Sourced from vineyards between 1100-1900ft, this is a roaring wine, not for the faint of heart. Aerate it a bit to open it up and find notes of crushed flowers, violets, black currants and bramble with hints of cocoa beans, earth, spice and sweet blueberries. It's muscular, but hints at how silky it will evolve with just a slightly longer nap in the cellar.

There’s not a lot left to go around. $59 is a steal for a wine of this magnitude and ageability. Enjoy it while it lasts!

TASTING NOTES

Notes of crushed flowers, violets, black currants and bramble with hints of cocoa beans, earth, spice and sweet blueberries. Muscular, yet silky and will age with grace.

THE STORY TO KNOW

Capture brings classic Bordeaux winemaking to the rugged Mayacamas Mountains in Northern California’s wine country. Established in 2008, Capture is inspired by California’s frontier spirit while staying true to time-honored French winemaking traditions. Our origins are rooted in the far reaches of the Mayacamas Mountains, seeking out remote high elevation vineyards in Sonoma, Napa, and Lake Counties, pushing always toward the next peak.
