Another gem from the 2015 vintage in Bordeaux, this time from St. Emilion, and boy, what an extraordinary bottling from the right bank. Hailing from a tiny family-run operation that kicked off in the early 1900s and now managed by two brothers, you just feel the devotion and care of the property in the glass. It's simply an elixir of love (maybe snag some for Valentine's Day or an anniversary, just sayin')!

Ripe plums, violets, baking spice, toast and a lovely ripe texture, it tastes like it could be from California, but no, this is all France. We can't really stress enough that the 2015 and 2016 vintages from Bordeaux are the ones to get your hands on, regardless of price point. Especially at $16 (55% off retail!!), you're going to want to load up your Bordeaux stash with this one.

TASTING NOTES

Ripe plums, violets, baking spice, toast and a lovely ripe texture. Full bodied, light tannins, ready to drink now or hold for 5-10 years.

THE STORY TO KNOW

Château La Chapelle-Despagnet is a tiny family-run property created in the early 20th century and managed by two passionate brothers; the Gagnaire brothers. The vineyard is located South-West of the village of Saint-Emilion, 40 kilometres East of Bordeaux, between Libourne and Saint-Emilion. Its wine production is almost confidential but definitively deserves the attention of connoisseurs. The Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation spreads on 9 communes. It is in this appellation that some growths are chosen to be ranked "Grand Cru Classé A ou B". A classification reviewed regularly (first in 1958 - last in 2012), contrary to the classification of 1855. Saint-Emilion Grand Cru enjoys an outstanding terroir from where emerge exceptional growths.
