This is a wonderfully affordable, easy to drink white Bordeaux that our sourcing team found on a recent buying trip. This small property in Bordeaux cranks out a nice array of very well made, reasonably priced wines, and when we tasted them, we just couldn't say no.
This blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc shows all the elements of both varietals. In the nose, there's a spicy blend of figs, melon and spice. In the mouth, the melon and grass of Sauvignon Blanc is evident, along with a tasty roundness and weight on the mid-palate. The wine is very fresh and juicy, making it a delight to enjoy as an aperitif or with a light appetizer or salad. While the world makes a spectacle of itself over Bordeaux’s famed red wines, our sourcing team has a song and dance number lined up for this fabulously fresh Bordeaux Blanc. Perfectly balanced, bursting with vibrant white stone fruit flavors and heady spiced citrus aromas, our Premier Sommelier Team said “we just couldn’t say no.” Good decision all around, since this direct import Sauv Blanc just sings in the glass. You’ll want several bottles on hand…it’s the sort of wine that warrants an encore appearance at your table.

- An award-winning bottle, Chateau Grand Jean’s Bordeaux Blanc has won the esteemed French guide Gilbert & Gaillard’s Gold medal. Its held in high esteem by our sourcing team and it’s exactly the sort wine we love discovering and sharing with our members.
- Michel Dulon carries with him 10 generations of history at Grand Jean. The estate’s 250-year history cuts quite the pedigree. Their reputation rides on great care in the vineyard (hand pruning, leaf thinning for better air flow) which in turn leads phenomenal fruit at harvest. Quality in the bottle starts with care in the vineyard, and boy does it show.

Fun Fact: This wine is from Entre-Deux-Mers ("between two seas"), a substantial slice of the Bordeaux region between the Garonne and Dordogne Rivers, which form the area's southern and northern boundaries.
Pale yellow color. Nose typically grapefruit, white fruits, exotic touch. Mouth rather concentrated with a certain freshness that leaves the aromas of the nose express.
The DULON family have been wine-makers from father to son for more than 250 years, although there was one generation when a member of the family became a miller (the mill that still stands next to the house is proof of this). When Jean DULON founded the property, there were only 12 hectares; today Michel DULON manages 130 hectares. Vignobles DULON are situated in the Entre Deux Mers region of the department of the Gironde (33) in South West France. Mr and Mrs Dulon are the owners of three vineyards, which are spreading over the villages of Soulignac, Targon, Langoiran. The exceptional orientation of these vineyards and the specials terroirs provide perfect conditions to produce great wines. We produce quality AOC labeled wines: AOC Bordeaux Rouge, AOC Bordeaux Supérieur, AOC Bordeaux Blanc, AOC Bordeaux Entre Deux Mers, AOC Bordeaux Rosé, AOC Premières Cotes de Bordeaux.
Millennial sisters Sophie and Carole Dulon are the new faces of Bordeaux—a region that’s long been known for its patriarchal old châteaux. But the Dulon sisters, the tenth generation of their family to run Château Grand Jean, don’t have much taste for tradition. The instant they took over, they implemented modern production techniques to make lively, flavorful wines—and Decanter awarded this one 90 points. Seems grand ol’ Bordeaux needed some girl power.
From seared scallops to robust cheese boards, this is a versatile bottle. Our favorite pairing is lavender herbed roast chicken with sautéed green beans.
