Pinot is one of our fave varieties, and in the hands of Chad Alexander, it might just become yours too!

This is another stunning wine from mountain viticultural specialist, Chad Alexander. He has crafted wines from nearly all of Napa’s peaks, including Mount Veeder, Atlas Peak, Diamond Mountain, and Howell Mountain. Okay – high-elevation Napa cab is one thing, but can he recreate that magic with coastal California pinot? The answer is a resounding ‘Yes!’ And can WE recreate our magic and get it to you for under $16? Do we really need to answer that Invino loyalists? Y’all already know!

From a perch of 1700 feet above sea level, above the fog line in one of Napa’s toniest appellations, sits the three-acre vineyard that grows many of the grapes for Ashby Park wines. However, this 3-barrel production of absolutely delectable pinot noir is sourced from a top-secret coastal site – where the cooling winds and mild temps are perfect for growing cool-climate varieties like pinot.

The vines for this pinot are own-rooted, meaning they haven’t been grafted, and survived the phylloxera epidemic that wiped out many of Napa’s vines in the late ‘80s and early ‘90s. And the vineyard is organically farmed with the greatest of care, making this mystery all the more intriguing. Thanks to iron-clad NDAs, all we can tell you is that the wine coming from it is simply masterful. In the winery, the wines undergo native fermentation with minimal intervention to craft terroir-driven wines that speak for themselves – without makeup to render them more “pretty.” This natural beauty needs no adornment – just clean, juicy, and delightful wine to drink. Red cherries, wild strawberries, and even some juicy plum sensations, all perfectly spiced with cinnamon, clove, and hints of bergamot tea. Crowd-pleasing, pinot-loving pleasure at its very best! Y’all better jump on it while you still can!

About the Producer

The style of Ashby Park Estates wine is solely determined by the place in which it is grown. The property sits in a broad saddle near the top of Howell Mountain at an elevation of 1,700 feet above Napa Valley. This 3 acre vineyard was planted in the new millennium year of 2001 and is divided into two farming blocks by a vernal creek that runs across the property. Winemaker Chad Alexander has overseen the production since inception and uses modern cutting edge equipment to produce non-interventionist wines that are naturally fermented.
