The Del Bondio family has made wondrous wines, from some of Napa’s most historic properties, for generations. So when we got the chance to snatch up some of their newest goods, at a price we could scarcely dream of – you just know we were PUMPED! Enter Square Nail – a new cabernet sauvignon, from the absolutely stellar 2018 Napa vintage, and mostly with grapes hailing from the iconic Rock Cairn vineyard in Oakville. The vineyard was originally on the hunting trails of Napa’s Wappo Indians, as they left little rock piles (cairns) as messages and markers that lasted into the early days of Napa’s agriculture boom.

Now, the vineyard is best known as a source for Nickel & Nickel’s single vineyard cabernet series (where you’ll pay easily $100+ for a current release), but this gorgeous cabernet (at UNDER $25, no less) is every bit as good – and a simply stunning value at our spectacular price. Deep, heady, and full, this is your classic Napa, Oakville-dominant cabernet sauvignon – with ripe bramble berries, black cherries, and plenty of spice. Clove, and vanilla, with black pepper, a kiss of bay laurel, and even a bit of nutty hazelnut, make this a compelling wine drinking in its absolute prime.
