Vivanco Winery is a Rioja-based staple that has been producing wines for over a century. This warm, rich, and spicy garnacha is a wonder – and with both 94 POINTS, and a special Invino price of under $30 – a wine not to be missed!

It was back in 1915 that Pedro Vivanco Gonzalez laid the roots of Vivanco Winery in the heart of Rioja. His sons, Santiago and Rafael, grew the vineyard and winery, and each generation has pushed and augmented the winery’s growth ever since. A combination of evolving innovation in the cellar, with a safeguarding of heritage techniques along the way has kept the winery in its place of prominence, as a top producer in all of Rioja.

This 100% garnacha is simply classic – with the floral perfume of lilacs and lavender, and the red berry notes of strawberries and raspberries, all woven together with earthy spice and roasted herb accents that make it a ripe comparison for Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The high tones of Rioja’s elevated vineyards make it distinct, however, and the 18 months of French oak aging give this a velvety smoothness. It’s soft, bright, and downright sexy stuff – and for OVER $50 below retail – this 94 point garnacha beauty needs a spot on your table!

About the Producer

Vivanco winery, nestled in the heart of the Rioja region, boasts a rich and storied history dating back to 1915 when Pedro Vivanco Gonzalez laid the foundation of what would become a celebrated legacy in winemaking. Originally a small family venture, Vivanco Winery gradually expanded under the guidance of Pedro's sons, Santiago and Rafael, who shared their father's passion for viticulture. Over the decades, the Vivanco family's commitment to quality and innovation propelled the winery to prominence, earning accolades for their traditional Rioja wines crafted with modern techniques. In 2004, the family realized their dream with the inauguration of the Vivanco Museum of Wine Culture, a groundbreaking institution dedicated to preserving the heritage of winemaking. Today, Vivanco Winery stands as a beacon of Rioja's winemaking tradition, blending heritage with contemporary expertise to produce exceptional wines that reflect the essence of this renowned Spanish wine region.

94 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate -
The 2016 Colección Parcelas de Garnacha felt fresher and less Châteauneuf-like than the 2015 with a full 1% less alcohol. It was produced with grapes from two vineyards that were converted to organic farming in 2019. It fermented in small oak vats and matured in new and second use 500-liter French oak barrels for 18 months. It's floral and perfumed with a touch of dark spices and clove, some notes of licorice and an earthy touch. It's medium to full-bodied with soft tannins and a velvety texture, finishing dry and long. 2,011 bottles were filled in April 2018.
