Fromm Winery Pinot Noir Cuvee H 2019
Pinot Noir | New Zealand
Get ready, it’s a triple threat today, folks! A 96 pointer, plus double 95s, for a jaw-dropping New Zealand pinot noir that normally doesn’t go for less than $60 stateside…for only $30 a bottle TODAY! April Fools Day was a few days ago, so we promise we’re not pulling your leg…this is the REAL deal! You can actually snag a high-scoring, highly touted Fromm pinot for an unreal 54% off! This kind of price, plus ground shipping on 4 or more bottles, is seriously unheard of!
Hailing from the northern tip of New Zealand’s southern island, where the sheep-to-person ratio is 11:1, Cuvee H is a blend of some of the best fruit from six of Fromm’s single-vineyard, dry-farmed sites to craft what’s become their much-adored flagship pinot. The ‘H’ in its name is to honor Hätsch Kalberer, the winery’s long-standing winemaker who partnered with Swiss-born George Fromm in the late ‘80s to first plant the idea of starting a winery together (which later came to fruition with their first harvest in 1992). Since then, with Hätsch still at the helm, Fromm Winery’s reputation has grown and become well-known for showcasing wines in favorite European styles with various added complexities thanks to the cool climate and rocky, volcanic terroir of Marlborough.
And this one? Oh, this one – it’s an elegant and expressive pinot, with elements of dried berries, dark cherry, sweet plum pie, and subtle savory and spicy characteristics, too (like cumin, game, and a steady undertone of minerality and forest floor dankness). It leads with strong aromatics, a delightful conglomeration of fruity and spiced notes, finishing strong with a round and velvety smoothness. A seriously stunning wine and a deal you can’t beat anywhere else here in the U.S….what more could you even ask for?! The best part: It’s as drinkable today as it is in 5 years. Grab one, grab six, or grab a case, because we’ll all be sad when this one’s gone for good.
