That we can offer this for UNDER $15 is just insanity at its very, very best. Full methode champenoise, these guys consistently make some of our favorite Cavas and we’ve direct-imported them for years as a result. This keeps the prices low and makes this a drink-me-up, all-the-time sparkling no-brainer of a deal…you simply cannot beat this. 

The new vintage – still made from a blend of old-vine garnacha (which we’d call grenache stateside), and a tiny bit of pinot noir – is as delightful as ever, and we’d say the best we’ve tried in YEARS. This 2020 is fully loaded with bright strawberry and cherry perfume, creamy, toasty rose, saliva-inducing watermelon, and some sexy, ethereal floral notes…perfectly, impossibly balanced with a lip-popping freshness and surprising length. We taste countless bottles of bubbly five or six times this price that don’t give nearly the satisfaction of one single sip of this beauty.

Castillo Perelada has produced wines since the Middle Ages – with an entire library documenting the methods of sales and history of the estate going back centuries! The modern age began with Miguel Mateu in 1923 and the region of Empordà has grown ever since. Here, set amongst Empordà’s sandy, silty alluvial valleys and slate-riddled slopes, grapes are thriving, and clearly, the wines are too. We’ll say again…90 POINTS!
