Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine Bourgogne Notre-Dame de Bonne Esperance 2018

Pinot Noir  |  France

SPECIAL: GROUND SHIPPING INCLUDED ON ORDERS OF 4 BOTTLES OR MORE!

45-year-old-vine pinot noir, from one of our favorite off-the-radar Burgundy producers, from a single parcel near Burgundy’s Corton Grand Cru hill...for nearly 50% off?! This is serious stuff at a distinctly unserious price, from a warm and delicious-drinking vintage that is shining bright in the here and now! Best price in the USA...let’s go!

Domaine Dubreuil-Fontaine has remained a fixture of the Côte de Beaune since the late 1800s. The estate possesses 20 hectares of prime vineyards within Corton, as well as the nearby villages of Beaune, Volnay, and Pommard, and their home estate in the medieval town of Pernand-Vergelesses. It was current vintner, Christine Gruère-Dubreuil’s father, Bernard, who first spied this glorious plot of Bathonian limestone back in the late 70s, set just below the iconic hill of Corton. He planted it to pinot noir and lovingly tended the vines until passing control of the domaine to his daughter. This is perhaps the most consistently over-achieving “Bourgogne” level plot in Corton – and we dare you to try and distinguish this from Premier Cru wines from the region. At the completely irrational price of only $25.95, and free shipping on only four bottles – you’re gonna want a lot of this.

This wine is elegant, savory, pure, and just LOVELY to drink. It glides across the mouth with grace and finesse, never a hard edge...just perfect. Sweet cherries, alpine strawberry, and rose petals are all there, red currants too, with soft, silky tannins and a light hand, charming, complex, and a total “damn, who brought this bottle?” kind of crowd-pleaser and impression-maker. Just fantastic to find Burgundy this good, at THIS price...wow! While it lasts!

About the Producer

Located where the Cote de Nuit and Cote de Beaune meet. This region can claim the production of both red and white wines with four levels of appellations. There's a beautiful and colorful bell tower that can be recognized from a distance. The foundation of the family estate dates back to 1879 and passed to a new generation in 2019, Clementine Gruere-Dubreuil.
