The new 2018 Sancho Garcés Crianza, a classic from the heart of Rioja proper, and a long-time Invino favorite has arrived! 91 points and only $12.95!?! That’s one heck of a deal for a juicy, rich, and delectable tempranillo like this!

Hailing from a tiny village of 967 residents in the heart of the Rioja Alta, this chocolatey, rich, palate-zippingly fresh tempranillo is like going blackberry picking when you were a kid. You get that super-sweet perfect berry – teeth-staining and addictive – with blackberry jam, crushed raspberries, sweet pipe tobacco, cinnamon, toasty vanilla bean, red currants, a hint of cedar and allspice...just a flavor bomb of exceptional quality – especially at this price!

Sancho Garcés is a label from Rioja specialist Zinio Bodegas – Rioja’s greatest co-op producer with over 200 winegrowers and an impressive array of 450 hectares of vineyards across Rioja Alta. These vines thrive at high altitudes – perfectly situated to enjoy the sunny and warm Mediterranean climate, while still able to capture those cooling, and acidity-preserving, breezes from off the Atlantic. This label is an homage to King Sancho Garcés III, the king of Pamplona between 1004 and 1035. Based in Nájera, a town bordering Uruñuela, he secured the historic El Camino, also known as The Way of St. James, perhaps Europe’s most famous pilgrimage road for well over 1000 years. By building hospitals and hostels along the way, travelers would stop, stay, and eventually sip in Rioja’s wine bodegas – eventually driving the world-class food, wine, and hospitality culture that the region is famous for to this day. 91 POINTS! We’d go higher still, but hey, at ONLY $12.95...this way, way over delivers! Get yours while we have ‘em!

91 James Suckling -
Some savory oranges, plums and vanilla on the nose, with a hint of cumin spice. Juicy and tight with firm tannins on the medium-bodied palate, followed by a medium-long finish. An elegant and quite drinkable Rioja to enjoy now. Drink now.
