Château d’Aqueria is the largest estate in the Tavel appellation of France’s Southern Rhone, yet also widely considered one of its very best. This spectacularly classic and mouth-watering rosé showcases Tavel’s signature complexity, density, and weight, and the 93 POINT score is simply the proverbial black cherry on top. Château d’Aqueria has been making wines in Tavel since the end of the 16th century. Unique to the region is the fact that this estate, while 244 acres in size, is one contiguous plot. Over 400 years of grape growing on this rocky soil of rolled pebbles and sand has come to define the style of Tavel rosé as a whole, and this is but the latest incarnation of one of our all-time favorite rosés anywhere.

The blend here is 45% grenache (noir & blanc) 21% clairette, 15% cinsault, 8% mourvèdre, 6% syrah, and 5% bourboulenc. More deeply colored than rosé from most other regions, this grenache-based wine has a tighter structure and intensity to match. Black cherries, red raspberries, nectarines, and watermelon dominate the fruit profile, with spicy accents of white pepper and roasted herbs. The acidity and slight tannin grants the finished length, and the complexity of flavors go far beyond your typical summer days, porch-pounding rosé style. This is at the perfect point in its life for maximum enjoyment, and our stellar price just makes it all the more attractive! Go big here, you won’t regret it!

About the Producer

Chateau D'Aqueria Tavel Cru des Cotes-du-Rhone Rose Wine 2019 is a dry and refreshing rose from the Rhone Valley region of France. This wine is made primarily from Grenache grapes, with additional varietals including Syrah, Cinsault, and Mourvedre. It has a beautiful salmon-pink color, a bouquet of red fruits, and a well-balanced acidity that makes it an excellent pairing for seafood, salads, and light pasta dishes.

93 Wine Enthusiast -
Year after year, this mouthwatering rosé is an approachably priced, stand-out pick amid an excellent lineup of Tavel bottlings. It's weighty and concentrated yet always invigorating, packed with crisp-tart blackberry and black-cherry flavors marked by complexities of bramble, garrigue and earth. A wine worth drinking beyond the summer months, it should fare beautifully through 2023.
